Live Translator Terms of Service
Effective date: October 15, 2026
Welcome to Live Translator (the "App"), provided by MIRAINAMI GK ("we", "us"). By downloading, installing or using the App you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. What the App does
The App provides speech recognition, translation, read-aloud and camera text translation. All processing happens on your device; nothing passes through our servers. Translation uses the on-device translation built into Apple devices.
2. License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Usage Rules. You may not rent, lend, sell or redistribute the App; reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to derive its source code (except where applicable law or an open-source license permits); or remove any copyright or license notices from it.
3. Subscriptions, lifetime version and free use
- Without a subscription, each continuous use is time-limited (currently 8 minutes, followed by a short break). Limits may change between versions; the in-app description applies.
- A subscription removes the time limit while it is active. Subscriptions are purchased and managed through Apple's App Store and renew automatically for the selected period unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase; renewals are charged within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Manage or cancel in iPhone Settings › Apple ID › Subscriptions. After cancelling, the subscription stays active until the end of the current period.
- Subscriptions may include a free trial (for example, one week). Billing for the selected period starts when the trial ends; you will not be charged if you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Each user is eligible for one trial.
- You may instead buy the lifetime version with a one-time payment. It permanently removes usage limits for your Apple Account and does not renew. Buying it does not cancel an existing subscription; please cancel that in your subscription settings. Use Restore Purchases to unlock it on other devices signed in to the same Apple Account.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies; we cannot issue refunds directly.
4. Translations are for reference only
Speech recognition and machine translation can be wrong: words may be misheard, omitted or mistranslated. Do not rely solely on the App where errors could have serious consequences, such as medical, legal, emergency or safety situations. Check the original or use a professional interpreter when it matters.
5. Read-aloud voice: use restrictions
The read-aloud feature uses the Supertonic 3 voice model by Supertone Inc., provided under the BigScience OpenRAIL-M license. You agree not to use the read-aloud feature:
- in any way that violates any applicable national or local law or regulation;
- to exploit, harm or attempt to exploit or harm minors in any way;
- to generate or disseminate verifiably false information with the purpose of harming others;
- to generate or disseminate personally identifiable information that can be used to harm an individual;
- to impersonate others without consent, or to create synthetic voices intended to deceive;
- to defame, disparage, discriminate against or harass individuals or groups based on legally protected characteristics;
- to make others believe, without disclosure, that a synthetic voice is a real person;
- to provide medical advice or interpret medical results;
- to generate or disseminate information for use in the administration of justice, law enforcement or immigration;
- for any other restricted use listed in Attachment A of the license.
The full license is in the App under Settings › About › Open-source licenses & credits › Supertonic 3.
6. Your content
What you say, film and generate in the App stays on your device and belongs to you. We cannot access it. You are responsible for the content you process with the App and confirm you have the right to do so (for example, obtaining consent to record others where local law requires it).
7. Open-source components
The App includes open-source software and models, each under its own license. License texts and attributions are in Settings › About › Open-source licenses & credits. Where such a license conflicts with these Terms, that license governs for the component concerned.
8. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, availability or fitness for a particular purpose. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from use of, or inability to use, the App, except where such liability cannot be excluded by law.
9. Changes, governing law and jurisdiction
We may update these Terms. Updates will be posted on this page with a new effective date; material changes will be announced in the App. Continued use means you accept the updated Terms. These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. The Tokyo District Court has exclusive jurisdiction as the court of first instance for any dispute arising from these Terms or the App. If this document is provided in more than one language and the versions differ, the Japanese version prevails.
10. Apple
- These Terms are between you and us only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support services for the App.
- If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any). To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the App.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to the App, including product liability, failure to conform to legal or regulatory requirements, and consumer protection claims.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement and discharge of any third-party claim that the App infringes intellectual property rights.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo, and are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using the App.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, upon your acceptance, Apple will have the right to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
